Bandung, September 18, 2024 – PT Asphalt Bangun Sarana (ABS), one of the leading companies in the asphalt industry and distribution in Indonesia, has signed a Memorandum of Agreement (MoA) with the Faculty of Civil and Environmental Engineering (FTSL) at the Bandung Institute of Technology (ITB). The signing ceremony took place at the FTSL meeting room, Jl. Ganesa 10, Bandung, on Wednesday, September 18, 2024.
The agreement aims to strengthen collaboration in the fields of education, research, and community service, in line with the Tri Dharma of Higher Education. The event was attended by the Dean of FTSL ITB, Prof. Ir. Edwan Kardena, Ph.D., Vice Dean of Resources at FTSL ITB, Hadi Kardhana, S.T., M.T., Ph.D., the Head of the Master’s Program in Road System and Engineering at FTSL ITB, Dr. Ir. Harmein Rahman, S.T., M.T., and the Director of PT Asphalt Bangun Sarana, Ilham Mardanis, S.E., along with several teams from the FTSL ITB laboratories and administration, and representatives from ABS.
The Dean of FTSL ITB, Prof. Ir. Edwan Kardena, Ph.D., emphasized that the partnership between ABS and FTSL ITB will greatly benefit the construction industry, especially in the area of road development, providing advantages not only for FTSL ITB and ABS but also for Indonesia as a whole.
“This collaboration with ABS is highly beneficial for the construction industry, particularly in road development and asphalt strength. It also contributes to the advancement of knowledge, where FTSL ITB, as a key player in road infrastructure, can further develop expertise in asphalt, thus contributing to the improvement of asphalt quality in Indonesia,” he stated.

This partnership is expected to deliver mutual benefits to both ABS and FTSL ITB through their commitment to working together on programs supporting knowledge development and technological advancements. ABS will facilitate the implementation of programs related to education, research, and technology development, particularly in asphalt products. Meanwhile, FTSL ITB will provide human resources, equipment, materials from various fields, and the necessary expertise to support these activities.
ABS and FTSL ITB are committed to supporting research activities on innovation in asphalt materials and road construction techniques. This collaboration is expected to result in breakthroughs that can enhance the quality of Indonesia’s infrastructure.
